    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Penfolds' Grange 2020

    Tasting

    Colour
A deep and dense red colour.

    Nose
Powerful aromas of shiraz, marked by notes of anise, liquorice and crushed plum, mingle with savoury meat juice notes. The woody fragrances conferred by the ageing are subtle and bring a beautiful complexity.

    Palate
The attack seduces with aromas of red and black fruits as well as pastry (Black Forest). As the tasting progresses, the ample palate reveals silky and velvety tannins as well as notes of dark chocolate and sandalwood.

    Service

The ideal serving temperature is between 16 and 18 degrees.

    Cellaring

Penfolds' Grange 2020 can be enjoyed between 2024 and approximately 2055.

The creaminess and freshness of an iconic Southern Australia wine

    The estate

Emblem of excellence, the Penfolds estate has become a symbol of great Australian wines since the beginning of the 20th century, notably thanks to the tenacity of a daring character: Mary Penfold. The famous Briton and her husband Christopher Rawson arrived in Australia in 1844 and quickly acquired a 200-hectare estate in the heart of Adelaide. Seduced by this wine setting, Mary Penfold devoted herself body and soul to the management of the estate, making it the largest wine producer in South Australia.

Marked by depth, elegance and complexity, Penfolds' wines have been acclaimed by critics for decades and have received countless awards for their quality.

    The wine

The famous Grange cuvée from Penfolds, unanimously celebrated for its excellence, particularly distinguished itself with its 2008 vintage, the first Australian wine to have received a score of 100/100 from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Ten years later, the Grange 2018 vintage is also rated 100/100, this time by James Suckling. Grange is undoubtedly the most renowned wine in Australia, it is listed by the South Australian Heritage Foundation.

    The vineyard

This 2020 vintage is made from a selection of vineyards spread over the wine-growing areas of McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Clare Valley.

    Vinification and blend

20 months ageing in American oak barrels (100% new).

    Blend

    Shiraz (97%)
    Cabernet Sauvignon (3%).
