    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet Village 2022 by Pierre Girardin

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a luminous pale gold hue with delicate light yellow highlights.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its crystalline freshness, releasing complex aromas of ripe white fruits and citrus, subtly interwoven with floral notes and a fine mineral touch.

    Palate
Precise and perfectly balanced, the palate offers a clear and light texture, carried by a bright, invigorating acidity. The whole extends at length to deliver a finish of remarkable aromatic persistence.

    Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs wonderfully with delicate fish served with a butter sauce, seafood such as lobster or oysters, as well as roasted poultry. It will also enhance goat cheeses or soft bloomy-rind cheeses such as Brie.

    Serving and cellaring

Approachable from its youth, this Puligny-Montrachet Village 2022 has the structure needed to evolve favourably in the cellar and can be enjoyed until around 2032.

The purity and crystalline elegance of a great Burgundy wine

    The estate

Founded in 2016 in Meursault, in Burgundy, the Pierre Girardin estate was born of Pierre-Vincent Girardin's ambition. Representing the thirteenth generation of an illustrious winegrowing family, the young current owner inherited 4.5 hectares of exceptional vines preserved by his father. Now at the head of a rapidly expanding vineyard, Pierre Girardin distinguishes himself through an innovative and minimally interventionist approach, combining organic and biodynamic practices. His cuvées, sought after for their purity, express with great fidelity the richness of the finest Burgundian terroirs.

    The vineyard

This Puligny-Montrachet wine is the result of a meticulous blend of two distinct lieux-dits within the appellation: "Les Charmes" and "Les Corvées des Vignes". These two complementary parcels each bring their own nuances, thanks to the specific microclimates, exposures and soil compositions unique to them. The estate practises organic viticulture that respects biodiversity and the soils.

    Winemaking and aging

After manual harvesting and slow pressing, the fermentation of the Puligny-Montrachet Village 2022 begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place over about twelve months in specific 456-litre barrels, half of which are new wood, in order to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the minerality. The wine is then refined in stainless steel tanks or neutral wood for a further four to eight months.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
