    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Puligny-Montrachet "Village" 2024 by Pierre Girardin

    Tasting

    Appearance
Bright and luminous, the wine displays a beautiful pale yellow hue enhanced by delicate golden reflections.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of ripe yellow fruits such as mirabelle plum and white peach, combined with the freshness of citrus. Subtle hints of white flowers intertwine with a marked minerality expressed through aromas of gunflint and a fine toasted reduction.

    Palate
The attack is lively and clean, driven by a lovely acidity. The mid-palate reveals an ample, rich texture that balances perfectly with a great mineral tension. The finish stands out for its remarkable persistence, evoking citrus and smoky notes.

    Food and wine pairings

This great white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as pan-seared scallops, shellfish or noble fish served with a beurre blanc sauce. It also enhances white meats and poultry in cream sauce, as well as cooked pressed cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort.

    Serving and cellaring

Endowed with fine ageing potential, this Puligny-Montrachet "Village" 2024 can rest in the cellar and be enjoyed until around 2034.

The elegance and precision of a great white wine from Puligny-Montrachet

    The estate

Founded in 2016 in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, the Pierre Girardin estate quickly established itself as an essential reference. Representing the thirteenth generation of an illustrious winegrowing family, Pierre-Vincent Girardin, the current owner, vinified his first vintage at just nineteen years old. At the helm of a vineyard spanning the finest terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and the Jura, he crafts high-calibre cuvées. The estate stands out for its environmentally respectful approach and minimally interventionist winemaking, revealing the purity and energy of each parcel.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, and more specifically from vines located in the northern part of the village, on the prestigious lieux-dits Les Charmes and Les Corvées des Vignes. The vines flourish on clay-limestone soils benefiting from excellent drainage and an ideal exposure. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming, although not certified, with particular attention paid to soil health and yield control to ensure optimal ripeness of the berries.

    Winemaking and ageing

To craft this Puligny-Montrachet "Village" 2024, the grapes are harvested at full ripeness and then gently pressed in whole bunches. Fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine then undergoes eleven to twelve months of ageing in large-format oak barrels, with a proportion of new wood of around 50%. Finally, six to seven months of refinement in stainless steel tanks stabilises and sharpens the aromatic profile before bottling, carried out without any fining or filtration.

    Grape variety

This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay.
