A great red wine from Tuscany from an exceptional terroir

    The estate

The Poggio di Sotto estate is located in the Montalcino region, in Tuscany, and extends over 30 hectares of vineyards. Founded in 1989 by Piero Palmucci and Giorgio Bolla, the estate is now recognized as one of the most prestigious producers of Brunello di Montalcino.

    The vineyard

The vines are cultivated using organic and biodynamic farming, respecting the environment and biodiversity. The soils are mainly composed of pebbles and clay, giving these Italian wines great finesse and beautiful minerality.

    The vintage

The 2019 vintage in Tuscany was marked by a mild and rainy winter, followed by a warm and dry spring. The summer weather conditions were ideal, with moderate temperatures and regular rainfall, allowing the grapes to reach optimal maturity.

    Vinification and aging

The grapes are hand-picked, then sorted and destemmed before being vinified in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks. The alcoholic fermentation is followed by a maceration of about three weeks, in order to extract the tannins and the aromas from the grape. This Brunello di Montalcino wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 36 months, and then in bottle for at least 6 months before being marketed.
