The story of this winery commenced in 1982 when Sir Peter Michael and Lady Michael purchased 630 acres of volcanic ridges on the west side of Mount St. Helens in Knights Valley. The family had been searching for an ideal vineyard site for around six years and settled in this picturesque area with their family.

Boasting a long-standing passion for Bordeaux and Burgundy wines, Sir Peter Michael founded the eponymous estate with the ambition of producing fine Californian wines that would rival the finest international wines.

Peter Michael Winery's wines are produced in limited quantities. They are renowned for their elegance and authentic expression of the potential of the finest terroirs on the West Coast of the United States.
