The Estate
Located in the heart of Rutherford, Quintessa is a wine estate founded in 1990 by Agustin and Valeria Huneeus, a Chilean couple with the ambition to produce great Californian wines. Quintessa oversees a 65-hectare vineyard farmed organically and biodynamically. This exceptional terroir draws its uniqueness from its mosaic of soils, exposures and microclimates.
The wine
Rutherford from Quintessa is a Napa Valley wine that expresses with refinement and richness the nuances of great Californian vineyards.
The vintage
The late autumn 2021 rains helped build significant water reserves, preventing the vines from suffering during a year marked by drought. The dry winter led to an early bud break, followed by a cool spring. While the summer began under moderate temperatures, the late-season heat accelerated the ripening of the berries, anticipating the start of the harvest.
Blend
