The Estate
Located in the heart of Rutherford, Quintessa is an estate founded in 1990 by Agustin and Valeria Huneeus, a Chilean couple with the ambition of creating great Californian wines. Quintessa cultivates a 65-hectare vineyard using organic and biodynamic farming. This exceptional terroir owes its uniqueness to its mosaic of soils, exposures and microclimates.
The Wine
Rutherford by Quintessa is a Napa Valley wine that expresses the nuances of great Californian vineyards with finesse and richness.
The Vintage
Late rains in the autumn of 2021 favored the accumulation of significant water reserves, allowing the vines to withstand a year subsequently marked by drought. The dry winter led to early budburst, followed by a cool spring. While the summer began with moderate temperatures, heat spells towards the end of the season accelerated berry ripening, advancing the start of the harvest.
