Saint-Chinian Wines : Key Points

Saint-Chinian is a 3300 hectares appellation part of the Languedoc region stretching over the North of Bezier. This fourth Languedoc appellation in term of volume produced, benefits of extraordinary geological and climatic diversities, which confers a particular character to its wines. On the north, schist soils -containing sandy-loam on the top and clayey deepest - predominate. The low capacity of grounds to retain water forces the vineyard to drought adaptation. The reds AOC Saint Chinian wines come from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsault and Lledoner Pelut blends while the whites are made with Grenache blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Rolle and Viognier.
