An exceptional Chilean carmenère from the Colchagua Valley

    The property

Founded in 1880 by Don Domingo Concha, Santa Rita is a pillar of Chilean viticulture, located in the prestigious Maipo Valley, often compared to Bordeaux. The estate covers 3,800 hectares and stands out for its commitment to sustainability, notably through the WiSe project. Santa Rita is famous for its iconic wines such as the Casa Real Cabernet Sauvignon and the Medalla Real. Under the direction of Oscar Salas and Sebastien Labbe, the house continues to innovate while honoring its rich historical and cultural heritage, marked by links with Chilean independence and a pre-Columbian heritage.

    The vineyard

The Floresta Carmenère is a wine from the Colchagua Valley from the Apalta vineyards. This region benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate, with average annual temperatures of 15-16°C and annual rainfall of 600-700 mm. The soils, of moderate depth with good permeability and granitic fractures, give the wine its characteristic minerality and balanced structure.

    Vinification and aging

Manual harvest in early March. Spontaneous fermentation took place at controlled temperatures between 22° and 24°C. The wine benefited from a 24-day skin maceration, and the press wine was incorporated into the free-run wine. Aging continued for 14 months in concrete tanks, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving its freshness and fruit.
