Tasting Notes
Appearance
Displaying a beautiful cherry-red hue, the colour shows remarkable density for the vintage.
Nose
Particularly expressive and pure, the nose releases seductive aromas of ripe red fruits, blending cherry, warm strawberry and vibrant redcurrant, all underlined by a delicate fragrant touch.
Palate
Fresh and full of energy, the palate offers a delicate texture with tannins of great finesse. Light to medium-bodied, it reveals itself as round and indulgent, supported by a fine structure, extending into a finish of remarkable aromatic persistence.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with roast poultry with herbs, duck breast with cherries or tender red meats such as filet mignon. It will also enhance dishes with forest notes such as mushroom risotto, as well as cooked pressed cheeses like Comté or Gruyère.
Serving and Cellaring
Crafted for a long evolution in the cellar, this Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2024 will develop beautiful complexity over the years and can be kept for several decades.
The Elegance and Precision of a Red Wine from Burgundy
The Estate
Established in the late 2000s, the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate represents a meticulous selection of the finest plots belonging to the Picard family in Burgundy. Now led by Francine Picard, this property takes its name from the famous nickname of the Montrachet hill. The estate stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamic viticulture, intensified since 2019, in order to enhance the expression of its prestigious terroirs. A true conductor, Francine Picard crafts wines of great precision, favouring finesse and authenticity.
The Vineyard
Spanning 35 hectares, including 15 dedicated to red grape varieties, this Burgundy vineyard benefits from an ideal cool climate. The vines, around 50 years old, thrive on a complex mosaic of soils composed of limestone, clay and marl. All the plots are rigorously cultivated according to biodynamic principles, promoting soil health and the resilience of the plants in the face of climatic hazards.
The Vintage
The 2024 vintage proved particularly demanding, marked by relentless spring rains, a lack of sunshine and strong mildew pressure. Localised hail episodes and uneven flowering significantly reduced yields. Nevertheless, thanks to biodynamic practices reinforcing the resistance of the vines, the harvested grapes were able to reach a maturity preserving great freshness and beautiful purity.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
