Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Beaune 1er Cru "Les Grèves" Domaine 2022 Bouchard Père & Fils
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a vivid, deep ruby red, evolving towards subtle purple hues at the rim of the glass.
Nose
The nose opens onto a complex aromatic palette, dominated by scents of well-ripened red and black fruits such as blackberry and plum. This is delicately underscored by floral touches of peony, notes of fresh leather and soft warm spices.
Palate
The attack is fresh and full of vitality, introducing a fleshy texture with generous volume. The palate confirms the fruity aromas perceived on the nose, enriched by perfectly integrated oaky nuances. The vibrant acidity balances beautifully with remarkably silky tannins, leading to a long, velvety finish.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs perfectly with feathered game such as roast partridge, woodcock or pheasant. It will also enhance creamed poultry, meat dishes in sauce such as wild boar stew with porcini mushrooms or a rib of beef, as well as characterful cheeses such as Époisses, Soumaintrain or a matured Comté.
Service and storage
Endowed with exceptional aging potential, this Beaune 1er Cru "Les Grèves" Domaine 2022 can continue to age in the cellar and will be fully enjoyable from 2027 until around 2055.
Other characteristics
The alcohol content of this wine is 13%.
The richness and finesse of a red wine from Beaune 1er Cru
The estate
Founded in 1731, the Bouchard Père & Fils house is a historic institution in Burgundy. Established in Beaune, this exceptional estate oversees a vast vineyard of over 130 hectares spread across around a hundred prestigious climats. Since 2022, the estate has come under the aegis of Artémis Domaines, marking a turning point towards greater quality standards and a full conversion to organic farming planned for 2025. Combining tradition and innovation, Bouchard Père & Fils excels in revealing the quintessence of Burgundy's finest terroirs.
The vineyard
Hailing from France, this wine comes from a historic 3.9-hectare plot farmed as a monopole within the Beaune appellation. Facing east and south-east, this terroir rests on shallow clay-limestone soils, particularly rich in gravel and sand. This light, dry geological profile ensures excellent natural drainage. The vines, some of which are a century old, benefit from rigorous agroecological practices aimed at preserving local biodiversity.
The vintage
The year 2022 began with early budbreak followed by a few episodes of spring frost. The summer then proved particularly hot and sunny, punctuated by four heatwaves. Precious rains in mid-August helped maintain optimal water balance. The harvest was thus able to begin early, from the end of August, yielding healthy, perfectly ripe berries.
Winemaking and aging
After a manual harvest and a strict selection of the finest bunches, the Beaune 1er Cru "Les Grèves" Domaine 2022 undergoes meticulous winemaking. Aging is then carried out carefully in French oak barrels, including a proportion of 35 to 40% new wood, to refine the tannic structure while respecting the expression of the fruit.
