Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Domaine 2022 Bouchard Père & Fils
Tasting
Colour
This French white wine reveals a seductive, pale golden hue, brightened by delicate green highlights.
Nose
Beautifully complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with floral notes reminiscent of acacia, mingled with yellow-fleshed fruit aromas such as vine peach. The whole is refreshed by citrus notes, particularly orange and lemon zest, all underscored by a subtle toasted touch.
Palate
The attack is generous, revealing a deep and concentrated character devoid of any heaviness. The palate offers a creamy, ample and delicate texture, supported by lively, perfectly integrated acidity. Flavours of apricot, ripe peach and hazelnut intertwine with a hint of vanilla, leading to a persistent, clean finish enhanced by a refreshing chalky minerality.
Food and Wine Pairing
This grand cru pairs wonderfully with refined dishes such as foie gras, noble shellfish like grilled lobster or scallops, as well as delicate white meats served with a creamy sauce. It will also beautifully complement golden sweetbreads or Aquitaine caviar served as an aperitif.
Service and Storage
To fully appreciate the complexity of the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Domaine 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Boasting exceptional ageing potential, this wine will reach its peak between 2026 and 2035, and can be cellared until around 2038.
The Elegance and Minerality of a White Burgundy Grand Cru
The Estate
Founded in 1731, the Bouchard Père & Fils house is a true institution in Burgundy. Based in the heart of Beaune, it oversees an exceptional winegrowing heritage of over 130 hectares, all of which are now certified organic. Since 2022, the estate has been owned by the Artémis Domaines group, led by François Pinault's family, marking a strategic shift towards production exclusively sourced from its own vineyards. This relentless pursuit of excellence reveals the very quintessence of Burgundy's finest terroirs.
The Vineyard
Located in the commune of Puligny-Montrachet, at the top of the grand cru hillside in the Côte de Beaune, the Chevalier-Montrachet terroir enjoys an ideal exposure that shields it from spring frosts. The vines, planted in 1974 on a 20% slope, thrive on poor soils composed mainly of limestone marl. This distinctive geology promotes early ripening of the berries and gives the wine its highly distinctive profile.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the bunches, followed by careful sorting. After a one-day static settling period, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in oak barrels. The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Domaine 2022 is aged for 18 months, including six months of blending as a single batch. This is carried out in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of 25% new wood, in order to preserve the pure and authentic expression of the terroir.
