Vinum

Luminous ruby; on the nose, despite 55% new oak, no dominance of toasty aromas, blueberries, raspberries, cool smoke; linear on the palate, juicy, lively, precise use of oak, fine-grained tannins, red-fruited finish with a hint of licorice on the aftertaste.

Decanter

Aromatic intensity, some dried herbs, milk chocolate, soy, vanilla and blackcurrants with soft floral scents too. Smooth and round, this has tons of concentration and pure red and black fruit with super fine tannins laced with liquorice and mint. I love the harmony here, lovely presentation and sense of ease as well as being full of flavour and intensity while still being delicate and finessed. A great wine, assured and confident and really dispelling the difficulties of the vintage. Chalky and mineral with liquorice spice on the finish. Cool and easy. Crisp and clean. 3.65 pH – complexity of flavour held by acidity.

90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. 45 hl/ha. Cask sample. Red-berry fragrance with a slight charry note. Round and ample on the palate. Tension again but less aggressive than No 3, the acidity and tannins providing length and structure. (JL)

Le Figaro Vin

On the nose, a note of bright red fruit—addictive, sweet, and sumptuous—evoking crisp red plum. On the palate, the wine is smooth, caressing, self-assured: an elegant star on the red carpet. Complex and evolving, it unfolds its nuances with grace, revealing delicious hints of cocoa and roasted coffee bean on the back palate. Its noble bitters linger on a long finish.

Love the bright fruit, just a slight kiss of cedar and sandalwood oak, even a touch of incense. Not huge depths compared to some vintages but they really have leaned in and delivered a vivid, sappy and mouth watering wine, with confident tannins. 45hl/h yield. 40th anniversary vintage of Hubert de Böuard.

A beautiful deep red color, intense and vibrant. Very aromatic nose with ripe fruit. Hints of strawberry. Supple on the attack and immediately very aromatic, the wine caresses the palate, then builds toward a smooth, flavorful finish. It’s delicious and very enjoyable. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.5% - pH: 3.6. Yield: 45 hl/ha.

Chocolate-covered plums, black raspberries, espresso, black cherries, and licorice fill the perfume. Vibrant, fresh, and juicy, the fruits are lively, soft, sweet, and have a touch of crushed rocks and stones that emerge at the end of the finish. With a year or so in the bottle, you can enjoy this wine 12 to 15 years after that. The wine blends 90% Merlot, with 10% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027-2040. 91-93 Pts
