Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Terres Blanches Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature from Maison André Bergère
Tasting notes
Appearance
Fine, steady bubbles and a clear, luminous colour, at times touched with golden highlights, reflecting a masterfully controlled second fermentation.
Nose
The nose opens with precise floral notes, accompanied by fresh citrus and white peach. This fruity dimension extends into more tertiary touches of brioche and almond, while a chalky, slightly saline nuance underscores the imprint of the terroir.
Palate
The attack is taut and lively, driven by lemon aromas enhanced by a hint of sea spray. White flowers and citrus return on the palate, set on a precise mineral framework, before a refreshing, crisp and distinctly saline finish.
Food and wine pairing
This Champagne is a delight as an aperitif, where its vivacity awakens the palate. It also pairs beautifully with fine fish, particularly delicately prepared, whose delicate texture is a natural match for the wine's mineral tension.
Serving and cellaring
Bottles should be stored horizontally in a cool place at 10 to 12°C, away from light and temperature fluctuations. The non-vintage Terres Blanches Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is ideally served at around 9 to 10°C, a temperature that preserves the balance between tension and aromatic freshness.
A pure, mineral Blanc de Blancs from the Petit Morin Valley
The estate
Founded in 1949 in Fèrebrianges by Albert Bergère, Maison André Bergère is a family estate, now run by the fourth generation, represented by Adrien Bergère in charge of winemaking and Anaëlle Bergère in charge of hospitality and wine tourism on the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay. The estate covers 45 hectares divided into 139 plots, between the Petit Morin Valley, the Sézannais and the Côte des Blancs, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and a partial conversion to organic farming.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from the villages of Fèrebrianges, Étoges and Congy in the Petit Morin Valley, complemented by plots in Sézanne. The soils are varied in composition, blending chalk, clay and sand, a Champagne terroir particularly well suited to the expression of Chardonnay, balancing mineral tension and aromatic finesse.
Vinification and ageing
Terres Blanches Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature benefits from plot-by-plot vinification, with part of the base wines fermented in oak barrels. Ageing on the lees continues partly in barrels, adding complexity and texture, before bottling without filtration and with no dosage whatsoever.
Grape variety
This Brut Nature cuvée is made from Chardonnay.
