A Floral and Mineral Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs Champagne
The Estate
Founded in 1811 in Épernay by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, the Champagne House Perrier-Jouët now belongs to the Pernod Ricard group, which it joined in 2005. Its vineyards extend notably across Cramant, Avize, Mailly, Aÿ and Dizy. Chardonnay is its signature grape variety and underpins a floral, delicate style. Séverine Frerson, the first woman to hold the position of cellar master at the House, now guides the blends. The House is also known for its anemone motif designed by Gallé and its commitment to regenerative viticulture.
The Vineyard
This cuvée is made from Chardonnay grown in the Côte des Blancs, notably in Cramant, iunc. The chalky Champagne soils give the grapes a pronounced minerality. The House states that the cuvée is produced only in years deemed perfect. Perrier-Jouët champions regenerative viticulture, based on soil cultivation, cover crops and the encouragement of wildlife, with beehives, low stone walls and trees.
Vinification and Ageing
This Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2013 is crafted using the traditional Champagne method. The secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle, followed by ageing on the lees in the House's cellars in Épernay, carved into the chalk. These galleries offer stable temperature and humidity, ideal for ageing.
Grape Variety
This Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay.
