Château La Connivence 2015

Complex plum, damson and berry fruits with a saline, mineral edge; intense and concentrated with a long, gravelly finish.

The 2015 Château La Connivence is a terrific Pomerol well worth seeking out. Offering a complex style in its white truffle, black cherry, blackcurrants, and hints of chocolate aromas and flavors, it hits the palate with terrific intensity, ripe tannin, medium- to full-bodied depth, and a great finish. It’s another gem from the right bank that’s going to deliver the goods over the coming 10–15 years.

Beautiful tannic elegance with lovely floral delicacy.

Garnet red with violet highlights. Delicate, complex bouquet. Notes of Morello cherry, prunes, tea leaves, and grilled bacon. A touch of freshness with a hint of mint and graphite. Lively, elegant attack. On the palate, the wine shows beautiful aromatic intensity. This is well supported by the structure through to the finish. The tannins are elegant and display good power. They lend character, which bodes well for this Pomerol. A surprising wine for its ability to reconcile power and flavor.

Three partners, including Alexandre De Malet Roquefort, share this tiny 1.3-hectare property in Pomerol. Dark, intense color. Aromatic nose with ripe fruit. Smooth, seamless, fragrant palate—tender, flavorful, with good length and a gentle tannic grip. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc – Alcohol: 15.2% – pH: 3.8. There is a second wine, 100% Merlot, called La Belle Connivence. It is lighter (rated 14.75).
