Vinous

Billy Norris

The 2025 Corse Figari Rosé is a blend of 50% Sciaccarellu, 30% Niellucciu and 20% Grenache. Savory funk leads the charge, accenting a base layer of sweet strawberry with flickers of gunsmoke, white truffle and orange peel. The 2025 pulls taut on the finish, leaving behind an echo of crunchy minerality and a nip of heat.

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Clos Canarelli 2025

Tasting notes

Appearance
The wine reveals a delicate pale salmon-pink hue, enhanced by bright, limpid highlights.

Nose
Refined and expressive, the bouquet releases aromas of fresh red berries such as wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant. It is enriched with floral nuances and spicy notes reminiscent of thyme, pepper and Corsican maquis.

Palate
The attack is lively and remarkably fresh. Perfectly balanced, the palate offers a silky texture reminiscent of a white wine, while retaining fruitiness worthy of a red. The long, mouth-watering finish stands out for its subtle bitter notes and touches of spice.

Food and wine pairings

A true gastronomic rosé, this wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as spicy prawns or scallops. It is also an ideal match for Mediterranean dishes, lasagna, salmon tartare or Corsican pressed-curd cheeses.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve favourably until around 2028.

The elegance and mineral tension of a Corse Figari rosé

The estate

Although the family vines have been cultivated for more than half a century, the Clos Canarelli estate was truly founded in 1993 by Yves Canarelli, its current owner. Located in the far south of Corsica, this property of approximately 38 hectares quickly established itself as an essential benchmark on the island. A pioneer of biodynamics in Corsica, the estate has been certified organic since 2002 and biodynamic since 2006. Yves Canarelli nurtures a passion for indigenous grape varieties, giving rise to distinctive, precise wines that are deeply marked by their terroir.

The vineyard

The vines used for this Corse Figari wine thrive in an extreme environment at the foot of the Omu di Cagna massif. This warm, dry and particularly windy terroir benefits from the refreshing influence of the sea and significant temperature variations. The plots, facing south and north-west, rest on poor, free-draining clay-granite soils. The vineyard is managed with the utmost respect for the environment, without any chemical inputs, thereby fostering biodiversity and the pure expression of the terroir.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes are hand-harvested, allowing for rigorous sorting of the bunches. The whole, non-destemmed grapes undergo direct pressing to preserve the delicacy of the aromas and the pale colour of the wine. Fermentation takes place thanks to indigenous yeasts carefully selected on the estate. Finally, the wine is aged in stainless steel vats throughout the winter, without any contact with wood, thus ensuring optimal purity and mineral tension.

Grape varieties

This wine is made from a blend of Sciaccarellu (50%), Niellucciu (30%) and Grenache (20%).
