The Estate
Founded in 1979 by Bruno Clair, Domaine Bruno Clair is located in Marsannay-la-Côte, the true northern gateway to Burgundy, France. Heir to a long family tradition dating back to the 19th century, the estate today spans 27 hectares across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Currently run by Bruno Clair, supported by his children Edouard, Margaux and Arthur, the estate stands out for its environmentally respectful viticultural approach, without official certification, and for its complete control over production, with no négociant activity whatsoever.
The Vineyard
This Morey-Saint-Denis comes from the "En la Rue de Vergy" climat, a high-altitude plot reaching 320 metres with a south-east exposure, located just above Clos de Tart. The vines, planted in 1996, grow in extremely poor soil composed of Prémeaux limestone and white oolite. The vineyard is farmed according to a sustainable approach, favouring organic fertilisation, cover crop sowing, and the complete absence of chemical weeding, in order to preserve the vitality of this bedrock terroir.
Winemaking and Ageing
The winemaking of the Morey-Saint-Denis Village "En la Rue de Vergy" 2023 begins with a two- to three-week fermentation in stainless steel tanks, carried out without any initial addition of sulphur. The wine is then aged on its lees for 18 months in oak barrels, around 15% of which are new. To preserve the wine's natural tension and mineral purity, no bâtonnage is carried out during this period.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay
