Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er cru "Les Jarrons" 2022 Domaine Bruno Clair

Tasting

Colour
Red in colour, the wine reveals a ruby hue with a slightly paler rim.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with red fruit aromas such as cherry, raspberry and morello cherry. It is enriched with floral notes, subtle spicy touches and a minerality characteristic of its limestone terroir.

Palate
The palate opens with a supple attack, leading into a medium-bodied wine carried by silky tannins and a lovely acidity that brings plenty of freshness. The finish is wonderfully smooth, marked by red fruit aromas and delicate hints of liquorice.

Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs beautifully with herb-roasted poultry, veal escalope with mushrooms or pan-seared salmon. It also goes perfectly with duck-based dishes, rosemary-grilled lamb chops, as well as aged cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.

Service and storage

The Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er cru "Les Jarrons" 2022 reveals its full potential after a minimum of four years of cellaring, though it can also be enjoyed in its youth for its vibrant fruit. It is built for medium-term ageing.

Other characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of around 13%, along with a pH ranging between 3.50 and 3.70, reflecting a lovely preserved acidity.

The elegance and freshness of a great Savigny-Les-Beaune wine

The estate

Founded in 1979 by Bruno Clair, the Domaine Bruno Clair is a leading reference in Burgundy. Born from the split of a historic family estate, it now spans 27 hectares across eight communes in the Côte d'Or. Currently run by Bruno Clair, his wife Isabelle, and their children Édouard, Margaux and Arthur, the estate stands out for its respectful approach to terroir and its rigorous massale selection. The domaine produces wines of great purity, faithfully reflecting the richness of Burgundy's limestone soils.

The vineyard

This wine comes from a 0.53-hectare plot within the Savigny-Les-Beaune appellation. Facing east-northeast at an altitude of 250 metres, the vines grow on clay-limestone soils. Planted in 1983 and 1987, these vines benefit from sustainable viticulture, with no ploughing, natural grass cover and Guyot-Poussard pruning to preserve the plant's health.

The vintage

2022 offers remarkable balance. Following a mild winter and ideal flowering, timely rainfall in late June and mid-August allowed the vines to flourish. The dry, windy conditions ahead of the harvest ensured perfect sanitary conditions, yielding concentrated grapes while retaining lovely acidity.

Winemaking and aging

To craft this Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er cru "Les Jarrons" 2022, the harvest includes between 20 and 30% whole bunches to preserve the delicacy of the structure. Maceration takes place in wooden vats for 10 to 15 days. The wine is then aged for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, with a measured proportion of around 30% new oak, allowing the terroir to fully express itself.
