In-Stock
Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2024
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant ruby red, at once vigorous, clear and bright.
Nose
Displaying exceptional purity, the nose exudes delicate aromas of fresh red fruits, such as raspberry and cherry, enhanced by subtle floral notes and light spicy touches.
Palate
Elegant and refined, the palate seduces with its silky texture and beautiful tension. The balance is perfect between integrated acidity and remarkably fine tannins, leading to a persistent, harmonious finish.
Food and wine pairing
This great red wine pairs wonderfully with flavourful meats such as beef fillet, roasted duck breast, lamb or mushroom-based dishes. It will also ideally accompany pressed, uncooked cheeses such as Saint-Nectaire or Cantal.
Serving and cellaring
For an optimal tasting of this 2024 vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 16°C, taking care to decant it for one to two hours while young. This wine, built for long ageing, can be kept in the cellar to be enjoyed until around 2040.
The elegance and purity of a Burgundy grand cru
The estate
Located in the heart of Burgundy in France, Domaine des Lambrays watches over an exceptional terroir whose winemaking origins date back to the Middle Ages. Unified in 1868, this historic estate in Morey-Saint-Denis has been owned by the LVMH group since 2014. Led by Jacques Devauges, the estate stands out for its status as a near-monopoly over the famous clos of the same name. Combining tradition and modernity, the estate is committed to highly precise viticulture in order to express the full nobility of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The Clos des Lambrays covers 8.70 hectares, almost all of which belongs to the estate. Planted on a hillside at an altitude of between 250 and 320 metres, this complex terroir benefits from rich geological diversity, with marl soils on the upper part and clay-limestone soils further down. The vines, aged between 22 and 124 years, are carefully cultivated according to organic farming principles, certified since 2022, and biodynamic practices in order to preserve the biodiversity and authenticity of the site.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand with rigorous sorting. Winemaking takes place in a modern gravity-flow cellar, using 80% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts. Fermentation lasts around three weeks to allow for gentle extraction. Finally, the wine undergoes careful ageing in barrels, including 60% new oak, to refine its structure while preserving the brightness of the fruit.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
