The Elegance and Precision of a Pinot Noir from Auxey-Duresses
The Estate
Founded in 2009 by Sophie and Fabrice Laronze, Domaine des Terres de Velle is located in the heart of Burgundy. This estate quickly distinguished itself through its artisanal approach and deep respect for terroir, expressed through micro-cuvées. In July 2023, the Solexia group acquired the estate, marking a new turning point. Since 2024, Pierre Vincent has run the domaine, now renamed after him, with the ambition of elevating this seven-hectare mosaic toward true viticultural haute couture, intensifying biodynamic practices to reveal the pure energy of each plot.
The Vineyard
The Climat from which this wine originates lies on the heights of Auxey-Duresses, at an altitude of around two hundred and forty metres. This sloping plot, facing south-east, rests on clay soils dotted with small limestone pebbles that provide excellent drainage. The vines, around forty-five years old and grown from a massale selection, benefit from a cool environment that allows for slow, optimal grape ripening. Yields are strictly limited through severe bud thinning to encourage aromatic concentration.
The Vintage
2022 ranks among the hottest years in the region's recent history. Despite these particularly high summer temperatures, the growing cycle allowed for the harvest of exceptionally high-quality berries. The weather conditions gave rise to bright, expressive and perfectly balanced juices, retaining lovely vivacity and a spicy touch without ever tipping into excessive warmth.
Winemaking and Aging
The creation of the Auxey-Duresses Village "Les Closeaux" 2022 begins with complete destemming, followed by a cold pre-fermentation maceration lasting around ten days. Fermentation is triggered by indigenous yeasts, punctuated by daily, carefully measured punch-downs and pump-overs. After the vatting period, the wine is transferred by gravity into French oak barrels, 10% of which are new. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally within the barrels, followed by a meticulous fifteen-month aging period that refines the structure while preserving the wine's vibrant fruit.
Grape Variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
