Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a velvety, intense purple hue, evolving into deep magenta highlights.

Nose
The nose reveals a lovely aromatic complexity dominated by black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry, subtly underscored by notes of undergrowth and delicate spices.

Palate
On the palate, this wine is generous and powerful, supported by silky tannins. Its ample texture allows flavours of cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry to come through, extending into a persistent finish balanced by lovely freshness.

Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs perfectly with a grilled entrecôte, roast beef or flavourful poultry such as guinea fowl. It also goes wonderfully with traditional slow-cooked dishes as well as characterful cheeses, such as Époisses.

Service and Storage

For optimal enjoyment of the Corton Grand Cru "Les Maréchaudes" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 16 and 18°C in a glass that concentrates the aromas, after decanting for around thirty minutes. While it can be enjoyed in its youth, this wine has excellent ageing potential and can be cellared until around 2039.

The Power and Elegance of a Grand Cru from Burgundy

The Estate

Founded in the eleventh century, Domaine du Château de Meursault is an unmissable historic estate located in the heart of Burgundy, France. Spanning a 65-hectare vineyard divided across more than a hundred plots, the estate is now run by the Halley family, with Olivier Halley at its helm since 2012. Under his leadership, the property has undergone significant renovations to its infrastructure and centuries-old cellars. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate farms all of its vines organically, seeking to express the purest identity of its terroirs.

The Vineyard

The "Les Maréchaudes" climat covers an area of 1.5 hectares on the mid-slope of the famous Montagne de Corton. Benefiting from an east to south-east exposure, this terroir rests on shallow, stony, clay-limestone soils. These geographical and geological conditions promote steady ripening of the grapes and give the wine its mineral complexity. All of these vines are farmed according to organic principles.

The Vintage

The 2024 vintage was marked by unstable weather and frequent rainfall from spring onwards, resulting in significant disease pressure on the vines. Despite these climatic challenges and modest yields, the return of milder weather in September allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness. The harvest thus took place under favourable conditions between 16 and 25 September, yielding fruit of excellent quality.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Corton Grand Cru "Les Maréchaudes" 2024 is overseen by cellar master Emmanuel Escutenaire. The process begins with a five-day cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by slow fermentations accompanied by gentle punching-down and delicate pumping-over to extract the tannins with finesse. The wine then benefits from careful ageing lasting from 12 to 18 months, depending on the needs of the vintage.

Grape Variety

This wine is made exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir.
