Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Les Sinards 2023 Famille Perrin
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals an intense, deep garnet red, enhanced by brilliant highlights.
Nose
Displaying great elegance, the bouquet reveals a lovely depth, blending aromas of undergrowth and truffle with bright notes of wild strawberries and violet.
Palate
Silky and refined, the palate seduces with its finely textured tannins. It unfolds savoury notes of stewed wild strawberries and morello cherries, supported by a lovely freshness, before stretching into a long, subtly smoky finish.
Food and wine pairing
Ideal with full-flavoured meats, this red wine from France pairs wonderfully with spiced duck breast. It also goes remarkably well with mushroom or truffle-based dishes, as well as mature cheeses.
Service and storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve Les Sinards 2023 at a temperature of 15°C. Approachable while young, this wine has the structure needed to age well in the cellar and can be enjoyed until around 2033.
The elegance and generosity of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine
The estate
The modern history of Famille Perrin began in 1909 with the acquisition of the estate by Pierre Tramier. Located in the Rhône Valley, this historic estate is renowned for its pioneering approach to biodynamic viticulture, initiated as early as the 1950s. Today, the fifth generation carries on this legacy of excellence. Strategic direction is provided by Jean-Pierre and François Perrin, while Cécile Perrin-Hamon has served as managing director since 2023. Independent and family-run, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to environmental respect and the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
This wine is made from three distinct plots located within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The majority comes from young vines under twenty years old, grown on the estate's historic terroir composed of marine molasse and rolled pebbles. The blend is completed with grapes from the Clos de Châteauneuf-du-Pape, facing southwest on limestone soils, as well as from the Le Grès plot, known for its pebbles that store daytime heat. All of these vines are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles.
The vintage
2023 stood out for its particularly favourable weather conditions. After a mild winter that supported vegetative rest, a dry spring allowed the vines to concentrate their energy. Summer was marked by intense heat, particularly in August and September, ensuring optimal ripening of the berries. Harvesting began early, at the end of August, under perfect sanitary conditions, yielding fruit combining exceptional concentration with great freshness.
Winemaking and aging
Following hand-harvesting and rigorous sorting, the winemaking of Les Sinards 2023 is tailored to each grape variety. Part of the Syrah ferments as whole bunches to provide structure, while the rest of the harvest is destemmed. Fermentations take place simultaneously in wooden and stainless steel vats, under strict temperature control. After malolactic fermentation and blending, the wine is aged for two years in large wooden foudres, refining its texture while preserving the brightness of the fruit.
Grape varieties
This wine is primarily made from Grenache, complemented by Syrah and Mourvèdre.
