A structured and mineral red from Terrasses du Larzac

The estate

Mas Cal Demoura is a key reference in Terrasses du Larzac. Founded by Jean-Pierre Jullien, the estate was taken over in 2004 by his son Vincent and his wife Isabelle. Certified organic, the estate spans eleven hectares. The wines of Mas Cal Demoura embody an authentic expression of the Languedoc terroir through red, white and rosé cuvées crafted with respect for the environment.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Mas Cal Demoura benefits from an exceptional terroir located at the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, in the north of the Hérault. The clay-limestone and stony soils give the wines their distinctive mineral character. The Mediterranean climate is tempered by northern winds coming from the Causse du Larzac, which bring freshness during summer nights, thus preserving the natural acidity of the grapes. The southern winds, meanwhile, limit the effects of drought. This unique climatic combination allows for a slow and gradual ripening of the grapes, favouring the development of complex aromas.

The vintage

The 2013 vintage is characterised by favourable ripening conditions that helped preserve a lovely freshness in the wines. This freshness is one of the distinctive signatures of this year, bringing balance and elegance to the cuvées produced.

Winemaking and aging

For the Mas Cal Demoura 2013, the grapes are hand-harvested to select the finest bunches. Vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts, respecting the natural expression of the terroir. Ageing takes place in foudres and demi-muids for a period of 12 to 18 months, allowing the wine to develop its structure and aromatic complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Grape varieties

Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault.
