The elegance and aromatic expression of a red wine from Piedmont
The estate
Officially founded in 1982 with the production of its first commercial cuvée, the Mauro Molino estate is an iconic figure in La Morra, in Italy's Piedmont region. Established by Mauro, drawing on his expertise as an agronomist, the family estate is today brilliantly run by his children, Matteo and Martina Molino. Deeply committed to preserving its terroir, the family stands out for its sustainable approach and rigorous plot-by-plot vinification. Mauro Molino thus embodies a perfect blend of historical heritage and innovation, giving rise to wines of great finesse.
The vineyard
Located at the heart of the Barolo appellation, on the prestigious terroirs of La Morra, the vineyard benefits from clay-limestone soils and a microclimate tempered by the proximity of the Alps. Cultivated according to strict sustainable principles, without herbicides or synthetic pesticides, the vines benefit from natural cover crops and organic fertilisers in order to preserve biodiversity and the health of the soil.
The vintage
The year was marked by complex climatic conditions, overall warm and stable. These parameters led to even flowering and moderate yields, allowing perfectly healthy berries to be harvested. In order to preserve all the freshness and natural acidity of the grapes, the harvest was carried out early, ending at the beginning of October.
Vinification and ageing
True to the estate's philosophy, each plot is vinified separately. The fermentation of this Barolo 2022 takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. Ageing then takes place in French oak barrels, favouring old or neutral wood so as not to mask the natural expression of the fruit and the terroir.
