Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for MAISON FAW High Rye Whiskey
Tasting
Appearance
Deep gold to dark amber.
Nose
A complex bouquet blending spices (black pepper, clove, cinnamon) with herbaceous, minty notes such as mint and eucalyptus. These are joined by caramel and vanilla aromas from the oak, fruit (green apple, citrus, cherries, dried fruit), hints of chocolate and a refined woody signature.
Palate
An ample structure with a lively, spicy and energetic attack, followed by a softer, caramelised development. The finish is long and warming, marked by lingering spices and a structuring woody character.
Pairings and serving occasions
Ideal served neat at the end of a meal, this whiskey pairs beautifully with rich dishes. Its caramel and dried-fruit notes complement desserts made with dark chocolate, caramel or candied fruit. Its spices and herbaceous notes also sit very well alongside charcuterie, grilled meats or hard cheeses.
Mixology
With an aromatic intensity that allows it to retain a strong presence even when diluted, this spirit makes an ideal base for elevating classic cocktails such as the Monte Carlo, the Manhattan, the Sazerac or the Old Fashioned.
The elegance and signature of a Franco-American whisky by MAISON FAW
The identity of MAISON FAW
MAISON FAW, founded by three partners (two French and one American), stands out for an innovative concept based on blending French grain whiskies with American Bourbons and Rye Whiskeys. This distinctive approach builds a bridge between two great distilling terroirs: the State of Indiana in the United States and the Cognac region in Charente. Master Blender Brendan Coyle orchestrates these complex marriages to craft spirits of unique character. Each Franco-American whisky in the range is then carefully bottled in Charente, at the Distillerie de Chevanceaux. By combining traditional expertise with bold aromatic profiles, MAISON FAW is redefining the boundaries of intercontinental blending.
The making of High Rye Whiskey
This High Rye Whiskey is the result of a meticulous blend in which rye takes centre stage, harmoniously complemented by malted barley. The spirits that make up this whisky are aged for 3 to 9 years, ensuring fine maturity while preserving the vibrancy characteristic of rye. The origins of this spirit reflect the brand's dual identity, with roots in both Indiana in the United States and Charente in France. Bottled at 44.6% without chill filtration, this whiskey of great character expresses all the complexity of a rye-rich mash bill, offering enthusiasts an intense and structured tasting experience.
