Characteristics and tasting tips for Seña 2024

    Tasting

    Colour
The wine displays a beautiful violet hue enhanced by ruby highlights.

    Nose
Fresh and remarkably expressive, the bouquet reveals aromas of wild rose and rosemary, interwoven with fruity notes of raspberry and black cherry.

    Palate
The attack is smooth and elegant. The palate is harmonious and wonderfully fresh, driven by a lovely floral purity and red-fruit flavours. The long, persistent finish leaves an airy impression of great refinement.

The elegance of a great Chilean wine from the Aconcagua Valley

    The estate
Founded in 1995 through a visionary partnership between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, the Seña label is now wholly owned by the Chadwick family. Located in the Aconcagua region, this exceptional estate covers 42 hectares. From the outset, it was conceived to raise Chilean wine to the level of the world's finest wines. The estate stands out for its commitment to producing Bordeaux-inspired wines while asserting a strong Andean identity, notably through environmentally respectful viticulture.

    The vineyard
Planted in the Ocoa area of the Aconcagua Valley, the vineyard stretches across hillsides some forty kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. The vines enjoy a Mediterranean climate tempered by cool breezes from the Humboldt Current. They thrive on stony, well-drained soils of volcanic and colluvial origin. The entire vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles in order to preserve biodiversity and express the full purity of the terroir.

    The wine

The 2023 vintage celebrates the 30th anniversary of this great Chilean wine.

    The vintage
The year began with cool conditions before ending with a warmer spell. Rainfall was above the usual averages. The particularly cool spring delayed both flowering and berry ripening. Although warmer weather late in the season helped speed up ripening, the harvest took place later than usual.

    Winemaking and ageing
Under the technical direction of winemaker Emily Faulconer, Seña 2024 benefits from careful ageing over 18 months. This takes place 70% in French oak barriques and 30% in large foudres, preserving the vibrancy of the fruit while refining the wine's structure.

    Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec, 16% Carmenère and 6% Petit Verdot.
