A Barbadian rum with robust character and complex structure
Mount Gay, the oldest rum distillery in the world
Mount Gay, founded in 1703, claims the title of the world’s oldest continuously operating rum distillery. Located in the parish of St. Lucy on a 280-acre estate, the distillery leverages Barbados’ unique terroir and still uses the ancestral well dug three centuries ago. Majority-owned by the French group Rémy Cointreau since 1989, Mount Gay retains a 40% stake held by the Ward and Hudson families, thereby perpetuating its exceptional historical heritage.
Black Barrel Double Cask Blend, an exceptional blend
Black Barrel Double Cask Blend is the result of a meticulous blend of intense, aromatic rums from traditional pot stills and column stills. This spirit benefits from a unique double-maturation process: the rums first age for a minimum of 3 years in American whiskey casks, then an additional 6 months in charred bourbon barrels. This dual-aging method gives the rum greater structure, a robust aromatic profile, and a distinctive character.
