The estate
Founded in the 1970s by Günter Rochelt in Austria, the distillery settled permanently in Fritzens, in Tyrol, in 1989. Now run by Alexander Rainer, the founder’s son-in-law, and his wife Annia, this family House continues an ancestral method of traditional Tyrolean double distillation, unchanged for three centuries. Rochelt stands out for its uncompromising standards: selective harvesting of fruit at optimal ripeness, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and exceptional yields reaching 80 kg of fruit per liter of eau-de-vie. Its singularly designed emerald-green bottles, adorned with goldsmith-crafted stoppers, embody the artisanal excellence of the Austrian Alps.
The spirit
Der Inntaler 2011 is a blend of three fruits: quinces, Williams pears and wild raspberries. The exact proportions of this blend are a closely guarded family secret. The production process excludes any additives: no cultured yeasts, alcohol, sugar or flavorings are added. Distillation is slow and delicate, following the Tyrolean tradition of double distillation, requiring up to 80 kg of fruit to obtain 1 liter of the heart cut. This eau-de-vie benefits from a minimum aging period of 8 to 10 years in casks before bottling. It undergoes no filtration in order to preserve the quality of the final product. The spirit is presented in the House’s signature emerald-green bottle, adorned with a goldsmith-crafted stopper.
