Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Yamazaki 18 Year by Suntory Whisky
Tasting
Bold, powerful and complex, its aromatic profile culminates in a silky finish. On the palate, this Japanese whisky reveals a rich array of flavours, blending candied autumn fruits with intense notes of dark chocolate. The result is a refined tasting experience that reflects its 18 years of maturation in Spanish oak casks.
The Subtlety of a Japanese Whisky
Suntory Whisky, a Remarkable Distillery
The story of the Suntory Whisky group is bound up with the dream of one man, Shinjiro Torii. A pioneer with a passion for wines and spirits, he launched his own wine in 1907 and in 1923 founded the Yamazaki distillery, now recognised as the oldest in Japan.
The Suntory group subsequently expanded its activities and gained international renown. After acquiring Château Lagrange in 1983, Suntory went on to acquire the French group Orangina Schweppes, followed in 2013 by Ribena and Lucozade, two British beverage brands, and in 2014 by Beam, a leading name in spirits.
An Exceptional Setting and Expertise
Located where three rivers meet, the Yamazaki distillery enjoys an exceptional environment, characterised by a misty climate, crystal-clear waters, marked temperature variations and high humidity. These optimal conditions, combined with the expertise of its craftsmen, have given rise to a Japanese single malt of great finesse and remarkable depth: the Yamazaki 18 Year Old.
