Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Aveta Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Tasting
Appearance
Displaying a bright hue with delicate pale straw highlights, this wine appears clear and brilliant.
Nose
Vibrant and complex, the aromatic bouquet releases citrus notes such as tangerine and grapefruit juice, intimately intertwined with exotic fruits like kiwi and guava. Subtle hints of lemongrass, dried herbs and a fine touch of damp straw beautifully round out this expressive ensemble.
Palate
The attack reveals a lively and refreshing acidity. The palate is carried by a beautiful mineral tension and bright citrus flavours. The finish is crisp, elegant, crunchy and particularly thirst-quenching.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters, scallops or shrimp. It also perfectly complements white fish enhanced with a lemon-herb sauce, salads of spring greens with fresh goat cheese, as well as light Asian dishes.
Serving and cellaring
This Aveta Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is designed to be enjoyed for its fruit and freshness in its youth, within the first few years following its vintage.
A bright and refreshing white wine from Napa Valley by Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
The estate
Founded in 1970 by Warren and Barbara Winiarski, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is a true icon of California. Located in the Stags Leap District at the heart of Napa Valley, the estate rose to worldwide fame following its historic victory at the Judgment of Paris in 1976. Often regarded as the region's premier cru, the property is now entirely owned by the Italian Marchesi Antinori family. Under the technical direction of Marcus Notaro, the estate carries on a philosophy that combines tradition, innovation and sustainable viticulture.
The vineyard
The grapes used for this cuvée come mainly from the Oak Knoll District, a cooler area of Napa Valley that helps preserve a lovely acidity. The fruit is meticulously selected from terroirs with alluvial soils, notably within the Danika Ranch, Bravo Zulu and Ryan's Vineyard plots. The blend is completed with grapes from Rancho Chimiles Vineyard, a family-owned estate located in Wooden Valley.
Winemaking and aging
To preserve the aromatic purity of this wine, fermentation took place at low temperature. The process was carried out 70% in stainless steel tanks and 30% in neutral French oak barrels. The wine then benefited from six months of ageing on the lees, accompanied by bi-monthly bâtonnage. No malolactic fermentation was carried out, in order to retain all the tension of the wine.
Grape varieties
69% Sauvignon Blanc, 24% Sauvignon Musqué, 4% Sémillon, 3% Muscat Canelli.
