Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Côte-Rôtie "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 Tardieu-Laurent

    Food and Wine Pairings

This red wine is ideally paired with roasted or grilled red meats, such as leg of lamb, as well as game. It also pairs very well with hard, mature cheeses.

    The Estate

Founded in 1994 in Lourmarin, in the Luberon, by Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent, Tardieu-Laurent has established itself as a leading négociant-éleveur in the Rhône Valley, in France. Without owning any vineyards of its own, it relies on a network of around one hundred partner growers spread across the northern and southern parts of the valley. Now run by the Tardieu family, with Bastien Tardieu in charge of winemaking and ageing, the House has built its identity around small-batch cuvées from old vines, aged according to a philosophy close to that of the great Burgundy grands crus.

    The Vineyard

This Côte-Rôtie cuvée comes exclusively from the Côte Brune, from renowned lieux-dits such as La Landonne, Lancement and Chavaroche. The vines, more than 60 years old, are planted on the granitic and schistous slopes characteristic of the appellation, which promote naturally low yields and fine concentration in the grapes.

    Vinification and Ageing

The Côte-Rôtie "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 is vinified using whole bunches, without destemming, in order to preserve the finesse of the tannins and the aromatic freshness. Ageing takes place in two stages: twelve months in new barrels made from oak sourced from the forests of Tronçais and Allier, followed by twelve months in foudres from the Stockinger cooperage.

    Grape Variety

This wine is made from Serine, the local name given to Syrah in the northern Rhône Valley.
