A generous and delicate Spanish white wine from Penedès by Torres
The estate
Founded in 1870 in Vilafranca del Penedès in Catalonia, the Familia Torres bodega is a true winemaking institution. Now run by the fifth generation, with Miguel A. Torres as chairman and Miguel Torres Maczassek as general manager, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment. B Corp certified, this iconic brand practises organic and regenerative viticulture. It is also renowned for its work to preserve ancestral Catalan grape varieties, thereby combining the richness of its history with a sustainable vision to face climate challenges.
The vineyard
Located within the Penedès appellation, the terroir from which this wine comes rests on deep reddish clay-limestone soils, dotted with gypsum-bearing schist. Dating back to the Eocene, these lands provide moderate drainage and excellent water retention, ideal conditions to support the aromatic expression of white grape varieties. The vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming and regenerative viticulture.
The vintage
The 2025 season was marked by abundant rainfall, 20% above the usual averages, reaching 629.9 mm over the year for an average temperature of 16 ºC. The growing cycle experienced torrential rains in early July, without causing major damage on the estate, as well as several heatwave episodes in June and August. An eleven-day heatwave in August notably helped accelerate grape ripening.
Winemaking and aging
The creation of this vintage begins with alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, lasting 10 to 12 days, under strictly controlled temperatures between 15 and 17 ºC. This Spanish wine then benefits from three months of aging on its fine lees, before bottling scheduled from January 2026.
Grape varieties
This white wine comes from a blend of Forcada, the first pre-phylloxera white variety recovered and vinified by the estate, and Xarel·lo, which brings a unique authenticity to the whole.
