Description
Three vintages of a Chilean wine from Central Valley brought together in an exceptional case
The estate
Located in the Cachapoal Valley, on the foothills of the Andes Mountains, VIK is Chile’s first growth. Founded by Alex and Carrie VIK, the estate spans over 300 hectares of vineyards in the Millahue Valley, named by the indigenous Mapuche people “Lugar de Oro” or “Golden Place.” The result of an outstanding terroir combined with the finest viticultural and winemaking techniques and practices, VIK wines are renowned for their elegance paired with rare aromatic richness.
The vineyard
VIK is a Chilean wine produced from vines grown in Millahue, in the Cachapoal Valley, on deep, porous granite soils.
The case
"Exclusive Collection 20-21-22" is a case bringing together three vintages of this Central Valley wine.
2020
This cool vintage allowed for rapid and precise tannin ripening, followed by smooth harvest conditions that produced well-ripened grapes with deep, dark fruit. The wine is expressive, pure, and vibrant, with remarkable tension and true elegance. It displays a dark, brilliant color, a very fruity and precise nose, and a palate with a taut structure and noble, silky tannins.
2021
On the palate, the wine shows evident elegance, with a structure that is both firm and delicate, supported by very fine, polished tannins that give a distinctive, almost airy vibrancy. The whole unfolds along a slender line, with marked minerality evoking graphite, leading to an endless finish. The nose combines aromas of perfectly ripe red and black fruits, along with hints of spice and white and black pepper that bring lift, with a subtle touch of blue flowers.
2022
A rich and complex nose, with wild blackberry and ripe red fruits, along with notes of licorice, graphite, gentle spices, and blackcurrant. On the palate, the texture is silky and the structure beautifully defined, supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. The mid-palate is generous, and the finish stretches out with great elegance.
Grape varieties
VIK is the result of a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
