    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2023 Vincent Girardin

    Tasting

    Nose
The nose reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity, blending notes of yellow fruit and lemongrass with subtle touches of beeswax. A pronounced minerality, evoking gunflint, underlines the limestone identity of its terroir.

    Palate
With beautiful richness and well-integrated acidity, the palate unfolds flavours of ripe white peach, honey and confectionery. Whole-cluster vinification lends a delicate tannic structure that gives the whole its framework. The long, lingering finish stretches out over mineral and spicy notes, enriched with hints of fresh butter and subtle oak.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with delicately seasoned seafood, such as grilled sea bass. It also perfectly complements white meats, like a turkey ballotine, as well as hard, aged cheeses such as Beaufort or Comté.

    Service and Storage

It is advisable to open this Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2023 in advance to allow it to fully reveal its aromatic potential, and to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. Built for the long haul, it can be enjoyed from 2025 up to around 2032.

    Other Characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 14%.

The Mineral and Complex Expression of a White Wine from Meursault

    The Estate

Founded in 1980 by Vincent Girardin from two hectares of vines, the eponymous estate has become a major figure in Burgundy. Now led by Jean-Pierre Nie (president) and Eric Germain (managing director and winemaker since 2002), the estate oversees a vineyard of around thirty hectares. A pioneer in environmental practices, the house banned synthetic products as early as 1997 in favour of biodynamics. The Vincent Girardin estate stands out for its commitment to producing pure wines that faithfully reflect the complexity of Burgundy's terroirs.

    The Vineyard

The climat "Les Narvaux" enjoys a unique location in Meursault, on a steep, east-facing slope, just above the Premiers Crus Genevrières and Porusots. The vines, roughly forty years old, thrive on very stony soils made up of limestone, clay-limestone and siliceous residues, resting on a hard limestone subsoil. The estate cultivates this terroir using sustainable methods, with deep ploughing and no chemical herbicides whatsoever.

    The Vintage

2023 was marked by demanding climatic conditions, with record summer temperatures and a significant water deficit during the growing cycle. These constraints led to uneven ripening of the berries. However, the generous yields of this vintage allowed for an extremely rigorous selection during the harvest, keeping only the finest quality fruit.

    Winemaking and Aging

The harvest is entirely done by hand, with meticulous sorting in the vineyard. For this Meursault Village "Les Narvaux" 2023, the whole clusters are pressed without destemming. After a twenty-four-hour static settling period, both the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in oak barrels. Aging lasts eighteen months in total, including six months of bulk blending, in barrels (20% of which are new oak). Bottling is carried out late, allowing the wine time to fully express itself.

    Grape Variety

    100% Chardonnay.
