Description
The richness and elegance of a great white Burgundy wine
The Estate
The history of Maison Vincent Girardin begins in 1980, when Vincent Girardin, then 19 years old and descended from a lineage of winemakers dating back to the 17th century, started his activity with two hectares of vines passed down by his parents. Driven by passion and a true winemaker's spirit, he quickly established himself among the leading figures of the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1992, the estate has become, over the years, one of the major references of the Côte de Beaune. Since 2000, Éric Germain has upheld this standard by showcasing the remarkable terroirs of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.
The Vineyard
This Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Pucelles" is produced from grapes grown in clay-limestone soils with abundant gravel.
Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested followed by rigorous sorting. Gentle pressing using a pneumatic press, ensuring a particularly slow and fruit-respecting extraction. Vinification in traditional 228-liter French oak barrels, of which only 15% are new, allowing for subtle oxygenation without masking the wine's original character. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occur naturally thanks to the use of indigenous yeasts and bacteria, faithfully reflecting the expression of the terroir. For 18 months, the wine rests on its fine lees, without bâtonnage, developing complexity and depth. One month before bottling, a careful Blend is carried out in stainless steel tanks, followed by racking, light fining and gentle filtration. The final touch: bottling is orchestrated according to the lunar calendar, reflecting an approach that is both traditional and respectful of the natural cycle.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
