The estate

Established in its modern form in 1971 by Helmut Dönnhoff, Weingut Dönnhoff now spans twenty-eight hectares in Oberhausen an der Nahe. Cornelius Dönnhoff, the fourth generation, has been running the estate since 2007 alongside his father. Certified FAIR'N GREEN Standard, this estate primarily grows Riesling on a range of soils and embodies a philosophy of authentic terroir expression, standing as an international benchmark.

The vineyard

Niederhäuser Klamm, classified as Große Lage, is located directly adjacent to the famous Hermannshöhle in the Nahe region. This outstanding vineyard rests on extremely stony soils made up of porphyry mixed with slate. The vines, fifteen to thirty-five years old, produce limited yields of around forty hectoliters per hectare, ensuring concentration and quality.

Winemaking and aging

The Riesling Niederhäuser Klamm Kabinett 2022 comes from a 100% selectively hand-harvested crop. Vinification and maturation take place in stainless steel tanks and large oak casks, preserving aromatic purity and the expression of the volcanic terroir.
