Description
A lively, crystalline Nahe white wine
The estate
For over 250 years, Weingut Dönnhoff has cared for a unique terroir of steep, vertiginous slopes along the banks of the Nahe. Helmut Dönnhoff crafts, vintage after vintage, great German wines from a mosaic of terroirs, expressing the complexity, purity, and myriad nuances of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris.
Recognized across borders as among the greatest white wines in the world, the wines of Weingut Dönnhoff captivate with their elegance, aromatic richness, freshness, and exceptional minerality that emerges after several decades of cellaring.
Vineyard
Covering 25 hectares, the terroir of Weingut Dönnhoff owes its uniqueness to a multiplicity of soils and exposures that offer ideal conditions for the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. Meticulously tended, the 20- to 70-year-old vines produce low yields that give rise to high-quality German wines.
The wine
Classified VDP Erste Lage, this Riesling Roxheimer Höllenpfad Trocken from Weingut Dönnhoff is a Nahe wine from a steep, south-facing vineyard in a valley in the central Nahe. The 10- to 40-year-old vines are planted on warm, dry soils composed of weathered red sandstone.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested to retain only the finest grapes. Fermentation in tanks as well as in barrels, followed by aging in the same vessels.
Grape variety
This 2024 Riesling Roxheimer Höllenpfad Trocken from Weingut Dönnhoff is 100% Riesling.
