    James Suckling

A robust, well-balanced and focused Vacqueyras. Notes of dark cherries, baked plums, sweet spices and some tapenade on the nose. It’s full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Structured and dense, with a persistent finish. From organically grown grapes. Try from 2025.

    Nicolas Greinacher

Coming in at 15% alcohol, the 2022 Vacqueyras is a fleshy powerhouse. Peppery subtleties mingle with jammy red and black fruit nuances of moderate intensity. The palate is full-bodied and swathed in smooth tannins.

Ripe blackberries, peppery herbs, violets, and incense notes all emerge from the 2022 Vacqueyras, a medium- to full-bodied, concentrated, balanced wine from Xavier that has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as ripe tannins. It's clearly an outstanding wine that will evolve for 8–10 years.

    Description

A red wine from the Rhône Valley marked by finesse and aromatic expression

    The estate

A true emblematic figure, Xavier Vignon has been recognized for over twenty years as one of the best experts of the terroirs of the southern Rhône Valley. Through each of his cuvées, he precisely expresses the richness of the Rhône soils, while infusing a unique signature: that of Xavier Vignon. His creativity is notably illustrated in singular collections such as the Arcane range, a series of wines designed as an invitation to an extraordinary sensory journey.

    The vineyard

This Vacqueyras signed Xavier Vignon comes from carefully selected plots, located on two types of complementary soils. The old Grenache vines flourish on terraces of rolled pebbles, bringing power and concentration, while the Syrah is grown on clay-limestone soils, guarantors of freshness and structure.

    Vinification and aging

Vinification is carried out in concrete vats, in order to preserve the aromatic purity of the fruit. A four-week maceration allows for gentle extraction of all the richness of the grape. The Grenaches and Mourvèdres are then aged for 18 months in small concrete vats, while the Syrahs benefit from a two-stage aging: 6 months in concrete, followed by 12 months in one-wine barrels, to gain complexity without excessive woodiness.

    Blend

This Vacqueyras 2022 from Xavier Vignon is the result of a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
