    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Lombard 2025 by Yves Cuilleron

    Tasting

    Appearance

This wine reveals a pale, luminous robe, often adorned with delicate golden highlights.

    Nose

The bouquet proves particularly elegant and refined, releasing subtle aromas of white flowers intertwined with notes of small dried fruits, all underlined by light toasted touches.

    Palate

On the palate, the texture is rich and wonderfully rounded. A beautiful freshness balances the whole, leading to a long finish marked by a hint of spicy bitterness.

    Food and wine pairings

This great white wine will pair beautifully with seafood, such as delicate fish, shellfish or fine langoustines prepared with herbs.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the Lombard 2025, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. While it offers a very fruity profile in its youth, it also has excellent ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2035.

The elegance of a great Saint-Joseph white by Yves Cuilleron

    The estate

Founded in 1920, the Cuilleron family cellar is a true institution of the Rhône Valley. Since 1987, it has been Yves Cuilleron, a third-generation winemaker, who has passionately led the estate. Under his stewardship, the vineyard has expanded to 90 hectares across six major appellations. The current owner has made his mark by championing a sustainable, artisanal approach to viticulture. He thus crafts characterful cuvées that faithfully reflect the richness and diversity of his northern terroirs.

    The vineyard

The grapes come from old vines carefully selected within the Saint-Joseph appellation. Located on the Verlieu hillside, above the hamlet of "Bois Lombard", this terroir benefits from an ideal east and south-east exposure on sandy and granitic soils. Planting density is high, ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare. The estate favours respectful practices: natural grass cover, strictly organic fertilisation, no insecticides and rigorous canopy management through green harvesting and leaf thinning.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grape clusters intended for the Lombard 2025 are hand-picked before undergoing traditional plot-by-plot vinification. Oenological intervention is kept to a minimum, allowing indigenous yeasts to carry out both the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. The wine is then aged on its lees for eight months, half in 30-hectolitre wooden foudres and half in Burgundy-style oak barrels. The blending of the different plots takes place just before bottling, without any prior racking.
