A fresh and balanced Barbera d'Alba wine

    The estate

Founded in 1904 in Alba, Prunotto quickly established itself as a Piedmont reference, particularly under the leadership of Beppe Colla, considered the father of Barolo single-varietal wines. Acquired in 1994 by the Antinori family, the estate watches over the most prestigious terroirs of the Langhe and Monferrato. Under the guidance of Albiera Antinori and oenologist Gianluca Torrengo, the estate continues the excellence of Piedmont’s great crus.

    The vineyard

The Barbera d'Alba comes from vines planted on soils composed of clay and sand, offering the barbera grape variety ideal conditions to express its typicity. The harvest took place between September 10 and 21, allowing grapes to be picked at optimal ripeness.

    The vintage

The 2022 vintage in Piémont is marked by an early and surprising growing season. Winter proved mild and dry, followed by a significant lack of rainfall and high temperatures during June and July. These climatic conditions favored the production of perfectly healthy grapes, with smaller berries and a high concentration of sugars.

    Winemaking and aging

After harvesting, the grapes for the Barbera d'Alba 2022 are destemmed and crushed. Skin maceration takes place for 5 to 7 days at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30°C. Malolactic fermentation is completed by mid-December. The wine then benefits from a short period of aging in oak barrels. Blending is carried out in the spring before bottling.

    Grape variety

This Italian wine is 100% barbera.
