Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2024 from Au Pied du Mont Chauve
Tasting
Appearance
Displaying a ruby red hue, this French wine stands out for its bright aspect and beautiful intensity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with a dominant note of red fruits, evoking strawberry, raspberry and cherry. This fruity framework is enriched by spicy nuances of pepper and delicate touches of liquorice.
Palate
Generous and deep, the palate offers a structure with harmonious, silky tannins. The natural acidity brings beautiful freshness, while the peppery aromas perceived on the nose extend into a persistent and vibrant finish.
Food and wine pairings
Highly versatile, this red wine is the ideal companion for roasted poultry with herbs or a traditional coq au vin. It also enhances lean red meats such as filet mignon, textured fish such as pan-seared salmon, as well as aged cheeses like Comté or Camembert. For a vegetarian alternative, a mushroom bourguignon will be a particularly judicious choice.
Serving and cellaring
This Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2024 reveals its full tasting potential from now on, but can also rest in the cellar to be enjoyed until around 2028.
The elegance and precision of a red wine by Au Pied du Mont Chauve
The estate
The Picard family's winemaking history began in 1951, but it was in the late 2000s that Francine Picard, the current owner, founded the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate. Located in the heart of Burgundy, this exceptional property watches over a 35-hectare vineyard spread across prestigious communes. Guided by an environmentally respectful philosophy and biodynamic practices, the estate stands out for its ability to produce delicate and precise wines that faithfully reflect the richness of its terroirs.
The vineyard
Extending across renowned terroirs of Burgundy, the vineyard rests on clay-limestone soils rich in minerals. Culminating between 220 and 340 metres in altitude, the vines benefit from an ideal south-east exposure and steep slopes that promote optimal natural drainage. Vine management is rigorous, with natural grass cover and a strict limitation of yields to guarantee perfect aeration of the bunches during their development.
The vintage
The 2024 year required constant attention due to a particularly wet and poorly sunlit spring and summer. Despite these weather challenges and strong disease pressure, the return of bright, wind-swept weather in August and September allowed the berries to reach optimal maturity, offering a harvest reduced in volume but endowed with remarkable concentration.
