    Vinum

Raspberry and herbal aromas, calm and deep; very refined palate, perfectly ripe tannins, delicate fruit, showing energy, balance, and very good length. A wine of great finesse that will be enjoyable early.

Aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries, pencil shavings and barnyard introduce the 2022 Baron de Brane, a medium-bodied, sweet and somewhat carnal red that will appeal to readers with old-fashioned tastes.

Supple and lively, there’s a nice energy to this with plump strawberry and raspberry fruit and a clean, almost salty tang at mid-palate. Tannins are well integrated, they’re up front and provide the structure, yet have a lovely, comforting texture. Juicy, clean, easy, well made, a lovely second wine with freshness, cool blue fruit and stony touches. Just a lighter version of everything… tannins, fruit, acidity. Harvest 7–19 September. Yield of 31.5 hl/ha. pH 3.57. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

The 2022 Baron de Brane is a gorgeous second wine. Merlot drives the blend, and that comes through in the wine's plush contours and forward, succulent fruit. Black cherry, plum, licorice and menthol all meld together in an effortless wine that is all charm. This is beautifully done.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, ochre rim. Delicate notes of cassis and mint, a hint of liquorice, black cherries, dark nougat, attractive bouquet. Juicy, elegant, good complexity, ripe cherries, good freshness, round tannins, some fruit on the finish, shows very good length, certain ageing potential, a multi-faceted food wine.

Clear fig and dried fruit notes, but this also has extremely clear freshness and lift, opening up to baked earth, pomegranate, tar and dark chocolate. Gourmet, well handled. 38% of production. 30th vintage for Henri Lurton at Brane, 31hl/ha yield, harvest from September 7 to October 10 (last day was the Carmanère). This year they only used press wine from Cabernet Sauvignon (something that has only been true once before), pH 3.57.

    Yves Beck

With good intensity, the bouquet of Baron de Brane reveals notes of ripe, even candied, black berries along with praline aromas. On the palate, the wine is dense, smooth, and supported by fleshy, generous tannins that provide a solid backbone. The wine is inviting, indulgent, and ready to be enjoyed while offering good potential.

Dark, purple color. Very aromatic nose, ripe and more radiant than ever. Precise on entry, perfumed at mid-palate, with an unfamiliar grace in its touch, it expands after the mid-palate, juicy, silky, before finishing long, delicate, and ultimately impossible to spit. Blend: 65% merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon, 4% cabernet franc, 1% petit verdot. Alcohol: 14% - pH: 3.57.

Supple, soft, and creamy, the floral-edged wine is loaded with elegant, polished, sweet, ripe, delicious fruits that flow across your palate with ease. This baby Brane is perfect to enjoy on release while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. The wine blends 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2025-2038.

    Description

A Margaux Second Wine that entices with complexity and elegance

    The estate

At the helm of Château Brane-Cantenac since 1992, Henri Lurton is passionate about carrying forward the winegrowing venture begun by his ancestors, combining tradition with modern infrastructures designed to enhance the identity of the wines produced from this exceptional terroir in the Margaux appellation.

    The vineyard

Château de Brane-Cantenac is a Margaux estate located on the Brane plateau, a unique terroir that contributes to the elegant, aromatic signature of the estate's wines.

    The wine

Baron de Brane is a wine that pays tribute to Baron Jacques-Maxime de Brane, who owned the vineyard in the 19th century. This Second Wine is made from plots located on the 3rd terrace with deep gravel derived from clayey gravel, planted mainly with Merlot. The result is a delicious, immediately accessible wine.

    The vintage

A year marked by optimal weather, which brought about high quality. A mild winter with little rain preceded sunny, dry weather marked by three successive heatwaves. These very special conditions led to an early harvest.

    Blend

Baron de Brane 2022 is a blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Cabernet Franc (4%) and Petit Verdot (1%).
