The elegance and minerality of a rare Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet by the Bruno Colin estate
The estate
Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France, the Bruno Colin estate was officially established in 2003, following the division of the family holding. Drawing on twenty years of experience alongside his parents, Bruno Colin, the current owner, crafted his first vintage in 2004. Today, the vineyard extends over nearly 9 hectares spread across five communes. Renowned for his pursuit of freshness and minerality, the winegrower produces vibrant wines that precisely convey all the complexity of their terroirs.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from old vines aged between 45 and 65 years, spread across four emblematic lieux-dits of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation: Bataudes, En l'Ormeau, Bouchon de Corvée and Les Houillères. Rooted in clay-limestone soils, this terroir benefits from demanding viticulture. The estate favours a sustainable, even organic approach, including mechanical soil work and rigorous yield control to allow the identity of each parcel to fully express itself.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by a meticulous double sorting in the vineyard and then on a vibrating table. The grapes are entirely destemmed before a vatting period of about two weeks, carried out with minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the fruit. This Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2024 is then aged in 350-litre oak barrels, of which 15 to 30% are new, for 12 to 18 months. The wine is finally refined in vat for 3 to 6 months before bottling.
