Description
The structure and aromatic expression of a Patagonian white wine
The estate
Bodega Chacra awaits you in the heart of the Río Negro region, at the southern tip of Argentina. This rare gem was brought to life in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta. The adventure began during a tasting in New York, where he savored a wine that particularly caught his attention: a Pinot Noir from Río Negro. It was a revelation for our protagonist, who immediately sensed all the potential these terroirs had to offer: ungrafted vines from 1932, massal selections, ideal climatic conditions… And so, Piero Incisa della Rocchetta set sail for this natural jewel to create his dream wines, nectars capable of conveying the taste “of a place on the planet,” as he says.
The vineyard
Bodega Chacra is rooted in the heart of the Río Negro region in Patagonia, lands born from the confluence of two rivers named Limay and Neuquén. They then stretch as far as the eye can see, across plains and forests, at an altitude ranging between 290 and 330 meters. It is here, in the heart of this green lung, that the estate thrives, nestled in a natural setting comprising 24 hectares of vines. The estate is farmed organically and biodynamically.
The wine
Mainqué Chardonnay is the result of a collaboration between Bodega Chacra and Jean-Marc Roulot, the emblematic winemaker from Meursault.
Grape variety
Mainqué 2024 Blanc de Chacra is 100% Chardonnay.
