The pure expression of the Champagne terroir by Benoît Déhu
The estate
Founded in 1787, the family-run House is located in the Marne Valley, at the heart of the Champagne wine region. Today, the estate is led by Benoît Déhu, who represents the eighth generation of winegrowers at the helm of the property. The estate's philosophy is built on crafting precise and authentic wines that reflect the unique identity of a singular place. Moving away from the classic standards of the traditional trading house, the current owner is committed to showcasing the local terroir through an artisanal approach.
The vineyard
The cuvée comes from a single plot called La Rue des Noyers, located in the commune of Fossoy in Champagne. This terroir consists of clay and sandy soils, typical of the Marne Valley, which promote even ripening of the grapes while providing a lovely minerality. The vineyard is exclusively planted with old vines and cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The climate, shaped by an oceanic influence with mild winters and temperate summers, helps preserve great freshness while supporting the aromatic development of the berries.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes used for the La Rue des Noyers V20 cuvée are hand-harvested with the utmost care. The process continues with ageing in oak barrels, the wood for which is sourced directly from the surrounding local forests. To preserve the wine's full authenticity, neither filtration nor fining is carried out before bottling.
Grape variety
100% pinot meunier.
