    Alison Napjus

There's a pleasing juiciness to this lively rosé Champagne, with a core of white cherry, peach skin and blood orange sorbet flavor set on the plush mousse. Hints of marzipan, grated ginger and minerally chalk and smoke linger on the finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2039.

    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the 2019 Vintage Brut Rosé Deutz

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a vibrant salmon-pink hue, adorned with subtle coppery highlights and animated by a remarkably fine effervescence.

    Nose
Beautifully complex, the nose opens with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant, enhanced by hints of orange zest. On aeration, delicate notes of brioche, spice, vine peach and rose petals emerge.

    Palate
The attack is lively and refined, revealing a silky texture. The palate expresses flavours of fresh red fruits and citrus zest, underscored by a saline minerality and subtle touches of almond. The finish is long, fresh and delicately spiced.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with meaty fish such as salmon, tuna or trout. It also shines alongside dishes featuring red fruit reductions, as well as recipes with Mediterranean or Asian influences incorporating aromatic herbs and mild spices. It also makes a perfect aperitif.

    Serving and Cellaring

This 2019 Vintage Brut Rosé can be enjoyed now, but its structure allows it to age favourably in the cellar until around 2029.

    Other Characteristics

This wine has a dosage of 6.5 g/L, placing it in the brut category. Its alcohol content is 12%.

The Elegance and Complexity of a Champagne Wine

    The Estate

Founded in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, the house is based in Aÿ, in the heart of the Champagne region. Now owned by the Rouzaud family and led by Marc Hoellinger, the house continues to uphold its historic expertise. Renowned for a style that combines elegance and precision, the estate is strongly committed to sustainable viticulture, with organic conversion planned for 2026. A member of the prestigious Syndicat des Grandes Marques, Deutz ranks among the most celebrated producers, crafting cuvées of remarkable finesse.

    The Vineyard

The house's vineyard covers 42 hectares of its own holdings, complemented by supplies from long-standing partner growers. Over 80% of the grapes come from Premier Cru and Grand Cru classified terroirs within the Champagne appellation, mainly located in the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. The vines thrive on predominantly chalky soils, which provide natural drainage and lend the wines their characteristic minerality.

    The Vintage

2019 was marked by challenging weather conditions, including rainfall during the harvest period that required rigorous sorting. Despite reduced yields, the harvested berries benefited from plenty of summer sunshine, achieving optimal ripeness, fine aromatic concentration and remarkable health.

    Winemaking and Aging

The 2019 Vintage Brut Rosé is made exclusively from the first pressing, ensuring great delicacy. The grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with full malolactic fermentation. The rosé hue is achieved by blending a small proportion of red wine with the base white wine. The wine then undergoes extended ageing of at least five years on the lees in the house's deep chalk cellars, followed by a further six months' rest in bottle after disgorgement.
