    Vinous

    Antonio Galloni

The NV Brut Blanc de Quatre Blancs Quattuor is laced with hazelnuts, almonds, orange peel, and dried pears. There is an attractive, oxidative quality that makes the NV Quatre Blancs quite appealing. A gracious, crystalline finish adds considerable finesse and weightlessness to this expressive, layered Champagne. The wine keeps getting better with time in the glass, so some advance aeration is probably a good idea. Disgorgement date: July 2012

    Wine Enthusiast

    Roger Voss

With fruit from the Aube and from the Côte des Blancs, Drappier has been able to put together a blend of Chardonnay from four different vineyards. In taste, warmth dominates—this is not a hugely crisp wine, the richness prevailing. But the warm pear and peach flavors all come together, a wine that is in the Drappier pure fruit style.

    Description

An aromatic and mineral champagne from an exceptional blend

    The estate

Since its creation in 1808, the Champagne Drappier House has a history intimately linked to pinot noir, its preferred grape variety. It was in the 1930s that against the general opinion of the commune, this grape variety was replanted on the estate. History proved the House right, whose Drappier 100% pinot noir cuvée, for the anecdote, was General de Gaulle's preference during his family meals.

Today, the children of André and Micheline Drappier represent the eighth generation to cultivate this exceptional vineyard in organic and biodynamic viticulture, highlighting forgotten grape varieties such as Arbane, Petit Meslier and Blanc Vrai.

    The vineyard

The vineyard of the Champagne Drappier House extends south of Reims over 75 hectares between the Côte des Bar and its old vines, the Montagne de Reims and its intense pinot noir as well as the Côte des Blancs and its delicate chardonnay. This vineyard owes its uniqueness to its limestone-rich terroir combined with maximum sunshine. Some of the Drappier House's plots are also worked with draft horses.

    The wine

Through the blend of the four white grape varieties of Champagne, the Quattuor Blanc de Blancs cuvée from Drappier is a magnificent expression of this mosaic of perfectly exposed and extremely calcareous terroirs.

    Vinification and aging

This Blanc de Blancs is made from the first press. Gravity vinification. Natural settling. Malolactic fermentation. Aging in bottles for 36 months. Its dosage is 4.2 gr/liter.

    Blend

is the result of a blend of 25% arbanne, 25% petit meslier, 25% blanc vrai and 25% chardonnay.
