Gosset's 2007 Celebris Rosé Extra-Brut is a blended rosé made from 59% Chardonnay (from Avize, Chouilly, Cramant and Vertus) and 41% Pinot Noir (Aÿ, Bouzy and Ambonnay) of which 7% is red wine. This precise and focused wine displays an apricot color and opens with a super precise and chalky bouquet of oyster shells and iodine intertwined with fine red berry and rose petal notes. Pure and salty on the palate, this is sharp and precise as a knife but also highly finessed, textured and fruity, with a very discreet creaminess and chalky grip on the refreshing finish. This is not just an exciting rosé full of finesse and elegance but also a great 2007 that can compete with the very best. Tasted in August 2018, from lot L6088120 with dosage of five grams per liter.

An elegant rosé, with vibrant acidity framing the finely knit flavors of crushed white cherry, mandarin orange peel and almond biscotti. A delicate skein of exotic spice unravels on the lively finish. Drink now through 2027. 1,500 cases made, 40 cases imported.

The 2007 Extra Brut Rosé Celebris is wonderfully silky, polished and refined. The flavors are bright and lifted throughout, reflecting the predominance of Chardonnay in the blend. Cranberry, white pepper, mint and crushed rocks all give the 2007 much of its translucence and weightless energy. The finish is dry, mouthwatering and tense. In other words, classic Gosset. This is a terrific showing. The 2007 is 59% Chardonnay and 41% Pinot Noir from vineyards in Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Vertus, Aÿ and Bouzy.

    Falstaff

Orange-toned colour. On the nose, very chalky with ripe Pinot fruit indicating both the stage of development and the ripeness of the grapes at harvest. Exciting on the palate with the perfect combination of generosity and freshness, despite the long lees ageing. Additionally, despite its age, the fruit is very prominent, with very little in the way of tertiary notes. Its vinosity ensures this Champagne is an excellent food companion.

    Bettane+Desseauve

Subtly amber-hued rosé that immediately inspires serenity. The Pinot Noirs lend poise and structure on the nose, and the wine impression is substantial. Stewed red fruits contrast beautifully with aromas of fresh red grape skin or a delicate sloe distillate. The palate is broad and generous, the cherries are kirsch-like, and the incisive freshness clearly reflects the impact of great Chardonnays. A promising tannic finish for extended aging.

    La RVF

A potpourri and undergrowth profile, with a touch of wild strawberry. A subtle rosé with a palette that leans toward rose and dried flowers. The palate offers a lovely texture, fairly creamy and delicate; it’s much better than the white.

    Description

Gosset unveils a fresh and complex Rosé Champagne

    The estate

As a heritage of traditional expertise, the Champagne Gosset House has preserved its style through the centuries. The Gosset family has been established in Aÿ, Grand Cru of Champagne since the 16th century. For 16 generations, Maison Gosset has upheld excellence, now overseen by Odilon de Varine, cellar master and deputy general manager of the house. The house’s champagnes are notably recognized by the shape of their bottle, a legacy of the “antique” flasks used in the 18th century.

    The vineyard

Maison Gosset owns plots on the Grands and Premiers Crus of the Champagne region in the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The approximately 140 hectares of vineyards are planted in the crus of Cumières, Courmas, Chamery, Avenay, Vertus, Villers-Marmery, Grauves, Avize, Trépail, and Cuis.

    The wine

The Celebris Rosé Extra Brut 2007 cuvée from Gosset is crafted from a blend of chardonnay vineyards (Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Vertus, …) and pinot noir (Ambonnay, Aÿ, Bouzy, …).
This cuvée is the third edition of this Rosé Extra Brut champagne, following the 1998 and 2003 vintages.

    Vinification and aging

Traditional vinification and aging on lees. Malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve a pure and fruity aromatic expression. This cuvée benefits from at least 10 years of aging in the cellar and a minimum of 6 months of disgorgement before release. The dosage of this 2007 vintage champagne is 5 g/l.

    Blend

Celebris Rosé Extra Brut 2007 by Gosset is the result of a blend of chardonnay (59%) and pinot noir (41%), including 7% red wine.
