Gosset : Grand Millésime 2016

Concentrated flavors of crème de cassis, grilled nut, dried pineapple, toasted brioche and Grand Marnier liqueur are sculpted by chiseled acidity in this rich yet racy Champagne. A subtle tang of salinity emerges on the lingering, creamy finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2036. 200 cases imported.

Light golden yellow in colour with silver reflections, and a fine mousse. On the nose, a hint of fresh apple and ripe vine peach, some shortcake, and candied orange zest. The palate is juicy and elegant, with fresh acidity, a hint of sun-ripened fruit, nuances of peach, and a citrus-saline finish, a lively child of its sunny vintage, a delicate food wine.

Pale straw-hued, the 2016 Champagne Grand Millésime Brut is fruity and floral on the nose, with notes of fresh roses and red-berried fruit. It’s peachy and fresh on the palate, with a refined mousse and a classic feel, with a fresh if somewhat delicate impression through the finish. I like this a lot. Drink over the coming 15 years.
