Characteristics and tasting tips for Joseph Perrier Cuvée 200 Extra Brut 2015

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a bright, refined golden hue with subtle depth, a testament to the richness of this exceptional Champagne.

    Nose
Complex and generous, the nose unveils remarkable opulence with pronounced minerality and characteristic chalky notes. Delicate fragrances of spring flowers unfold, accompanied by indulgent prune notes that bring a sophisticated fruity dimension.

    Palate
The palate seduces with its rich, enveloping texture accented by honeyed tones. A fruit-driven bouquet expresses aromas of raspberry and blackcurrant, lifted by citrus notes. Exotic fruits, notably predominant lychee, add an elegant tropical dimension. Subtle floral touches of lilac and lily mingle with delicate menthol notes, all culminating in impressive length.

    Food and wine pairing

This exceptional Champagne pairs beautifully with a scallop carpaccio dressed with olive oil infused with lime and yuzu. It also complements roasted quail served with bok choy and sautéed shiitake mushrooms.

    Serving and cellaring

Joseph Perrier Cuvée 200 Extra Brut 2015 is ideally enjoyed at a temperature between 50 and 54°F (10–12°C).

A prestige Champagne celebrating the bicentenary of Maison Joseph Perrier

    The estate

The Champagne Joseph Perrier House, established in 1825 in Châlons-en-Champagne in the Marne, cultivates a 24-hectare vineyard spread across the communes of Cumières, Hautvillers, and Damery. A family-owned property now led by Benjamin Fourmon, the House is distinguished by its 3 kilometers of ground-level Gallo-Roman cellars that enable optimal aging. Its rare Châlons roots and historical renown—notably as a supplier to Queen Victoria and Edward VII since 1889—attest to its excellence.

    The vineyard

Produced in a limited edition and celebrating the House’s bicentenary, this Cuvée 200 Extra Brut comes from a blend of prestigious terroirs within the Champagne appellation. The Chardonnay is sourced from the Premier Cru of Cumières and the Grand Cru of Chouilly, while the Pinot Noir comes exclusively from the Grand Cru of Ambonnay, ensuring remarkable quality and typicity.

    The vintage

The year 2015 was characterized by high temperatures and notable drought, punctuated by a few episodes of intense rainfall. These particular climatic conditions yielded grapes of exceptional concentration, bringing richness and complexity to this outstanding vintage.

    Winemaking and aging

Cuvée 200 Extra Brut 2015 benefits from an exceptional 96 months of aging—eight full years—on lees in the estate’s historic cellars. This prolonged maturation fosters remarkable aromatic complexity and incomparable finesse. This extra-brut Champagne has a particularly low dosage of 3 g/L.

    Grape varieties

This exceptional blend is composed in equal parts of 50% Chardonnay, fine and elegant, and 50% Pinot Noir, conferring structure and power.
